As International Womens Day approaches, we invited some female employees to tell us what it’s like to be part of the DPF Engineering team.

We began by speaking with April Connolly, one of our newer team members.

So April, how long have you been with DPF?

I joined DPF in June 2022. My brother works as a CNC operator in the company and when a position became available, he asked me if I would be interested in applying as I had expressed interest in changing career, and he was aware how much I enjoyed working in a warehouse type setting.

Tell us a little about your role and responsibilities…

Currently I work in stores in DPF.  It’s a busy and varied role; from receiving and recording raw materials, packing, sending parts for treatment, storing, and recording finished goods and shipping to the customer.

The role involves a lot of paperwork and filing for traceability and audit purposes.

What skills and experience are required for the role?

My previous experience includes treatment coordination in a busy private dental practice. I also worked in retail from the age of 16, which taught me a lot about stock control and warehousing.

The engineering sector is new to me but I have a lot of transferable skills. I also have a Bachelors Degree in Business Management.

What do you enjoy most about your current role?

I enjoy that every day is different.

As time goes by, I am really enjoying learning about the different parts and processes involved. I enjoy interacting with suppliers and customers.

There is a great team and support network in DPF which makes going to work enjoyable. I love that I am constantly learning; having no previous engineering experience I find that every day is a learning curve and I enjoy the challenge.

I am looking forward to seeing where this will take me in my career.
